OCR iMedia Level 1
OCR iMedia Level 1 equips pupils with the vocational skills to pursue a career or keen interest in graphic design, website design and digital media. It gives learners the opportunity to build practical digital arts skills, covering digital graphics and web authoring.

Course details
In this course, learners will work through three study Units. Here’s a taste of what they will cover:
Unit one: Exploring the digital world of media
- Digital technology devices
- Using the Internet
- Sources of information
- Presenting and reviewing your findings
Unit two: Introduction to web page production
- Planning and preparing a website structure
- Creating a simple website
- Using images and hyperlinks
- Adding content to your site
- Evaluating your site
Unit four: Introduction to digital imaging
- Digital imaging
- Creating simple graphics
- Using a digital imaging programme
- Editing your digital images
How long does it take?
OCR iMedia Level 1 is designed as a 90-hour course. Learners can flexibly study at their own pace, depending upon the time made available for their studies.
Course delivery and assessment
The course is offered online with vision2learn – an innovative web-based learning system, which you and your pupils can access via PC from school or home. The online course contains all of the learning content needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course, as well as activities to enable your pupils to practise their skills and test their learning receiving additional help and support from you as you are always just a click away.
About the qualification
Studying OCR iMedia Level 1 leads to the accredited OCR Level 1 Certificate for iMedia Users, which helps your pupils to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of this subject.
In order to successfully achieve a qualification, your pupils will need to complete an assignment at the end of each unit of the course. A certificate will be awarded on successful completion of these assignments. As pupils work through the course, they will also complete a series of practice activities, designed to prepare them for these assignments.
The computer kit needed
- An Internet enabled PC running MS Windows and Internet Explorer 5 (or later), or Netscape 6 (or later), with JavaScript and cookies enabled
- Email software and an active email account
- Adobe Photoshop or similar image manipulation program
- Macromedia Dreamweaver or similar web authoring program
- Download Adobe Acrobat.
